{"id":3201,"date":"2017-03-05T09:55:05","date_gmt":"2017-03-05T09:55:05","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.nikola-breznjak.com\/blog\/?p=3201"},"modified":"2017-03-05T09:59:42","modified_gmt":"2017-03-05T09:59:42","slug":"getting-started-fuse-7th-mecode-meetup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/nikola-breznjak.com\/blog\/meetups\/getting-started-fuse-7th-mecode-meetup\/","title":{"rendered":"Getting started with Fuse &#8211; 7th MeCoDe meetup"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>Meetup notes<\/h2>\n<p>Last Thursday (02.03.2017) we had <a href=\"https:\/\/www.meetup.com\/MeCoDe\/events\/237549055\/\">our 7th MeCoDe meetup<\/a>, and this time it was all about <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fusetools.com\/\">Fuse<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The presenter was our Goran Leva\u010di\u0107, the leader of incubation and education in TICM, who did a great job in showing us first hand how to work with Fuse on few practical examples that we were able to code and run on our laptops as well!<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;d like to thank the team from <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/fusetools\">Fuse<\/a> that sent us their awesome stickers and badges (check them out in the pics section)!<\/p>\n<p><em>For those who just want to take a peak at the code, here&#8217;s the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Hitman666\/FuseMeetupDemo\">Github project<\/a>.<\/em><\/p>\n<h3>Few pics from the meetup<\/h3>\n<p>[ngg_images source=&#8221;galleries&#8221; container_ids=&#8221;18&#8243; override_thumbnail_settings=&#8221;0&#8243; thumbnail_width=&#8221;120&#8243; thumbnail_height=&#8221;90&#8243; thumbnail_crop=&#8221;1&#8243; images_per_page=&#8221;20&#8243; number_of_columns=&#8221;0&#8243; ajax_pagination=&#8221;0&#8243; show_all_in_lightbox=&#8221;0&#8243; use_imagebrowser_effect=&#8221;0&#8243; show_slideshow_link=&#8221;1&#8243; slideshow_link_text=&#8221;&#91;Show as slideshow&#93;&#8221; order_by=&#8221;sortorder&#8221; order_direction=&#8221;ASC&#8221; returns=&#8221;included&#8221; maximum_entity_count=&#8221;500&#8243; display_type=&#8221;photocrati-nextgen_basic_thumbnails&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2>Short how-to tutorial<\/h2>\n<p>Here I&#8217;ll outline few steps on how to get started with Fuse and get one simple example application working.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Download Fuse from their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.fusetools.com\/downloads\">download page<\/a> and install it &#8211; it works on both Windows and Mac<\/li>\n<li>When you run Fuse you&#8217;ll see this screen <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/L29CFr0.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Select <code>New<\/code>, name your project and click <code>OK<\/code>: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/0zPAEbS.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Click on <code>Open in Sublime<\/code> (<em>I&#8217;m guessing that if you don&#8217;t have Sublime Text, some other editor will be shown as default here<\/em>): <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/fqOdUDe.png\" alt=\"\" \/> and you should see something like this: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/WBhYUm3.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>In your Fuse dashboard click on <code>Start app preview<\/code> and then just confirm the <code>Local<\/code> option and click <code>OK<\/code>: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/NjZOTNN.png\" alt=\"\" \/> you should get this screen open up: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/NjZOTNN.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>If you tap and hold the rectangle this is what should happen: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/oiTwuaN.gif\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>Now, few examples with code and expected output: <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/Z0nXkrS.png\" alt=\"\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/DirN4Sz.png\" alt=\"\" \/> <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/i.imgur.com\/rOrkAye.png\" alt=\"\" \/><\/li>\n<li>This last example may have a bit more value since it&#8217;s showing how to fetch some data from an API (JSON response) that holds an <a href=\"http:\/\/nikola-breznjak.com\/_testings\/mecoders.json\">array of presenters on our meetups so far<\/a>. The full source code can be checked out on <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/Hitman666\/FuseMeetupDemo\">this Github repo<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Conclusion<\/h2>\n<p>Fuse looks really promising and I wish they keep getting this tool better and get out of beta as soon as possible \ud83d\ude42<\/p>\n<p>If you want to learn more about this tool, then be sure to check out their <a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/playlist?list=PLdlqWm6b-XALJgM3fGa4q95Yipsgb8Q1o\">video tutorial series on YouTube<\/a>.
